Classic Skillet Cornbread

Ingredients
- 1.00 c all-purpose flour
- 1.00 tbsp baking powder
- 0.25 c butter (Melted)
- 1.00 c cornmeal
- 1.00 egg
- 1.00 c milk
- 0.50 tsp salt
- 1.00 tbsp sugar
- 1.00 tbsp vegetable oil
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place an oven-safe skillet in the oven while it heats.
- In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Carefully remove the hot skillet, add the vegetable oil, and swirl to coat the pan.
- Pour the batter into the hot skillet.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
